Come out, come out, wherever you are.

I see locations and IP addresses in my sitemeter and I wonder who you are.  I wonder how you found my little space on the internet, I wonder what keeps you coming back, I wonder about you.  Are you married?  A mom?  Struggling with something?  I hope you find this place warm, inviting, encouraging, and more importantly, a place where you see a real wife, mom, friend, and sister dealing with real life issues.  I’ve said before that I blog for myself, and I do.  Even if no one ever checked in here, even if my posts went unread, I would still write.  But I won’t lie, I’m very curious about the visitors I receive every day.
GiveawaycollageAnd so, to entice all the readers/lurkers/regular commenters to come out of hiding, I’m offering a giveaway of two of my favorite things.  One lucky reader is going to win a copy of my favorite book, Redeeming Love, and a $15 gift certificate to Starbucks.  Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers is hands-down my favorite book of all time.  I could (and have) read it over and over again.  And Starbucks… well, no explanation needed for that one.  Just two of my favorite things for one of you that follows along on this journey of mine.
I’m not going to require you to become a follower, or mention this giveaway on your blog, or tweet about it, or grab a button, or do a 1000 jumping jacks.  I simply want to bless someone that reads on a regular basis.  Leave a comment, tell me whatever you want about yourself or how you found me or what keeps you coming back or even a prayer request so I can pray for you.  Whatever you want.  Plus an email address or another way to contact you if you win.  Easy-peasy.  (I hope.)  I’ll leave comments open until Sunday, January 30th at 10:00pm (MST).

I’m a coffee drinking, book reading, laundry procrastinating, husband and children loving, mess of a woman who believes that chips and salsa can fix anything. We have chickens running around the backyard, a mountain of dishes in the sink, and on any given morning, I have at least 10 school forms that need my signature or initials. It’s a crazy life {I prefer to call it controlled chaos}, but its ours.

Hi,

I came across your blog from Courtney's blog. I love reading your posts. Your kids remind me of how my daughter is sometimes. "Redeeming Love" sounds like an interesting book and Starbucks...what more could a mom want.

I hope that your week is going well for you!

Please, PLEASE tell me I can still win even though I'm your sister. I've been "following" you from the very beginning, even before the blog. =)
I love how open and honest you are on here and of course the pictures and daily stories of my nieces and nephew since I can't see them as often as I would like to.

Hello! I have been reading your blog for a couple of months now and love it! I stumbled across it when I was looking for recipe/food blogs and found your "What's for Dinner?" blog that you do with your sisters. That led me to your Munchkinland design site and that led me here. I also realized that many years ago I went to youth group with you and your sisters at Faith Evangelical. Since finding your blog I also started reading Christine's - and both of you guys have such wonderful reminders of the goodness of God, joy of marriage and blessings of motherhood. Your posts are a joy to read....so thank you for letting me "lurk". :)

blessings,

Hey Jenn!
I am so glad I can follow your blog. I feel like it is a way to keep in touch with you since we are both so busy that don't get to talk often. Your blog is one of my favorites. I should try to comment more often. I would love for my Mia to play with your little ones again sometime soon!

Hey, Jenn,
I know that you have some followers that found you via my blog, because every once in a while I'll have a friend tell me, "I love reading the Sanchez girls' blogs." I don't know if they'll post, but I will!! :-)

Redeeming Love is my all time favorite book, too. I'm sure I found out about it from your mom. I was teaching at Fort Collins Christian Academy several years ago (the only year of the school's existence) and I was finishing the book during a study hall with tears streaming down my face. A mom of one of my students walked in, looked at the book, and asked, "Are you reading a ROMANCE novel?????" With the tears still running I said, "YES!! The most beautiful romance story ever!!" She just looked at me and walked away!! I hope that she ended up reading it too!!

Thanks for your faithful encouragement!!

Barbie sent me a link to your blog because she thought we would be a good connection for each other since we were both trekking into stay-at-home motherhood at about the same time.
She was right. Love reading your posts!

I found your blog through Sarah's blog "As the Lord Works" and have really enjoyed reading it.

I am a speech therapist and thought your posts were interesting regarding Devyn's speech therapy. It definitely helped me see a different side of what I do every day.

You are a good writer and I enjoy your honesty as a Christian, wife, mother and sister.

What a neat way to connect with your readers! Well, I've been following you for some time now.. I think through your sister courtney's blog. Found her through someone else. Anyway, I think my favorite part of your blog is the stories about the funny stuff your kids do. I'm from a big family (7kids), so I just relate to that. Anyway, love the blog, and that book looks like a good read!

Redeeming Love is my favorite book too!! Not only have I read it many, many times, but I also made Bryant read it when we were dating. I told him if he wanted to know about me, my journey, and my relationship with Christ, then he would need to read that book...and he did! :)

I don't remember how I came across your blog now...maybe from Sheri's blog before she went private? Anyway, then I came out of the woodwork because you mentioned you might go private and I asked to be included even though I didn't now you. I'm Dana, I have 3 children and have suffered from postpartum depression with all three, but the worst this last time. I love your love for Jesus, your husband, and your children and you inspire me to think things through a different way and to keep my eyes on our Lord. Thanks!

I've been following you since your old blog--since, in fact, the unpleasantness that led you to shut that blog down.

I like the way you tell the story of your life. I always have. I originally clicked over from that other place prepared to mock, judge, etc, and found myself pulled in by your voice instead. You are so honest. So real. I think I commented once a really long time ago and told you something similar.

I doubt that we would ever have met in the course of our usual days, and I suspect that we have fundamentally incompatible ideas about the world and how to live in it, but I read your blog and remember that we are all people, doing the best we can with the tools we have. And that we are not so unalike, at the end of the day. And in this day and age, having that kind of reminder is a gift.

So... thank you. I don't need to be entered into your contest (I'd be more likely to enjoy Francine Rivers's earlier romance novels), but I do want you to know that your words reach all kinds of places. Even here in my corner of extremely liberal, currently childless, happily agnostic Los Angeles.

Hi Jenn,

I am a longtime friend (25+ years) of Jim & Tina J. and their three boys. In 1986 I literally met your dad "by accident" when my dog tried to bite him as he brought mail to my house. If you remind him of that, he will know who I am. :-) While Jim & Tina were in Colombia, I occasionally visited their web site and kept seeing the link to Knee-Deep in Munchkin Land. The catchy phrase made me curious, so one day I started reading your blog, not knowing who you were. Imagine my surprise when, after reading several pages, I came across a picture of your dad! So it turned out that I actually did kind of know you, because I knew that your parents have four girls. I used to run into your parents at graduation parties for Tina's boys, and you girls were probably there too. Anyway, I have been following your blog and also the blogs of your sisters C and C. I would love to meet all of you someday (I live about 50 miles south of you), and especially would like to talk with Christine sometime. Could we make email contact through Tina?

Take care, Munchkin-Land Mom!

Christine S.

I visit your blog and keep coming back because you're a dear friend and I feel like this way, through our respective busy lives, I can keep it touch with you and your life. I love your transparency and your honesty. It's convicting to me at times too. And, I love the sweet and funny antidotes about your kids. I'm hoping this year will bring chances for us to get together more.

I find your blog from Kelly's Korner. I loved your post about staying home! The first time that my now husband and I talked I told him I was going to be a SAHMW. He said of course. It really was a deal breaker for me. We live very comfortably on one income while many of my friends struggle on two. Not sure how we are doing it! Staying home is on of the best decisions you will ever make.

Hi Jenn-

I found your blog from Courtney's blog. Laura Shaver was my college roommate freshman year and I met Courtney through her. Our lives are very different but I find inspiration from your blog posts. Your blog has made me realize that I don’t have to be the best at every aspect of my life; I just need to trust Him. I love to read about your trust and faith in God and your struggles/triumphs about being a wife and mother. Thanks for being so open and honest!

I found your blog through another blog way back when you only had two children. I follow your blog because I have children the same ages, and genders, as yours minus your newest addition. And, I may just have to live vicariously through you on the fourth child because I'm just not sure it's in our future. Reading your blog is always a bright spot in my day.

I don't remember how I found your blog, but I am glad I did. I've been reading for years (before your two youngest were born). I was attracted to your blog because I'm a working mom and found a lot of your struggles were similar to mine. I am now working part time and praying that God will allow me the chance to stay at home full time (and work on my husbands heart about this matter as well). I love reading your stories about your children and I love your love for Jesus. It shows through your writing.
